Sanctions & Compliance Statement
Last updated: 11 October 2026
epono is a Canadian service company. We sell services, not money transfers. We check what we are asked to do and for whom, we keep complete records, and we do not deal with listed persons. This statement explains how — for our customers, our banking and payment partners, and anyone who wants to understand how we work.
01 · Our position
epono is being incorporated in Canada and operates under Canadian law. We help families abroad arrange everyday local services for relatives in their home countries — including countries subject to Canadian economic sanctions measures. Canadian sanctions of this kind are targeted: they prohibit dealings with listed persons and entities and in specified goods and sectors. Our model is built to stay well within them.
02 · What we do — and do not do
- We sell a defined service to our Customer and are fully responsible to the Customer for it.
- We buy service capacity from independent local providers, with whom the Customer has no contact.
- We do not transmit money or value on anyone's behalf, and we are not a money services business, remittance service, currency exchange or marketplace.
- We do not provide goods or services that are controlled, dual-use or prohibited, and we do not serve governments, state bodies or organisations.
03 · How we comply
- Listed persons. We do not deal with persons or entities listed under Canadian sanctions laws, or with entities that are owned or controlled, directly or indirectly, by listed persons.
- Human review. An order that raises a concern is held and reviewed by a person before it goes ahead.
- Behavioural monitoring. We look for patterns such as repeated orders to many recipients, concentration on one address, and attempts to split orders.
- Declarations. Each Customer confirms at checkout who the recipient is, that the order is for personal or family use, and that it involves no transfer of money or value.
04 · Who we serve
Our Customers are identified individuals with a verified email, phone number and payment method. We do not currently serve U.S. persons, and every user is responsible for complying with the laws that apply to them personally, as set out in Section 6 of our Terms of Service.
05 · Records and cooperation
We keep a complete, tamper-evident record of every order — declarations, compliance checks, pricing, payment, execution evidence and every change of status — for as long as we need it to meet our legal obligations, with no fixed deletion date. A request to delete an account anonymises the person's details but leaves these records in place. We cooperate with lawful requests from Canadian authorities.
